Michael Katin, a founding member of the firm, is retired but retains his status as a member of the Massachusetts Bar and is of counsel to Scheier Katin & Epstein. He remains available for consultation and owner representation for real estate sales and purchases. He offers over forty (40) years of legal experience and practiced in Acton since 1986. Michael graduated from Syracuse University in 1971 with a major in history and obtained his law degree from Suffolk University Law School in 1976.
The primary focus of Michael’s practice is residential real estate which he undertakes with a strong sense of the importance and impact that transactions in this area of the law have on his clients and their families. Michael’s concern for his individual clients’ welfare extends to protection of their financial needs in establishing entrepreneurial business entities for individuals starting up their own business and in assisting others who find themselves facing a foreclosure or in need of a financial “workout” or a “Fresh Start” afforded by bankruptcy protection. He also represents mortgage lenders and serves virtually all of eastern Massachusetts.
Michael is a member of the American Bar Association, chairs the Property Law Section council of the Massachusetts Bar Association and serves on the Condominium Committee of the Real Estate Bar Association of Massachusetts. He has resided in Newton since 1976 with his wife Eileen and where he raised their two daughters with active participation as a charter board member of the Newton Girls Basketball Association, President and Treasurer of the Brandeis Jewish Education Program, and currently is on the Board of The Discovery Museum located in Acton. Michael is an avid recreational bicyclist and has participated in the Pan Mass Challenge fundraiser for the Jimmy fund since 1995.
